Update to Newchurch Phase 1

Sunday, June 21st, we will continue to have ONE ON-CAMPUS celebration at 9:30 AM.  We will continue our Phase 1 approach of our three-part move back to “normal” weekly meetings on campus.

One update to Phase 1: ADULT Small Groups may begin meeting on the Newchurch campus on Sunday mornings, 10:30am, or on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., following the two guidelines below:

Groups should observe social distancing in seating - at least 6ft apart.

- Groups should email Joe Curtis (joe@newchurch.tv) or Alan Brock (alan@newchurch.tv):

   - In order to secure a specific day and room for your meeting.

   - So that we may properly schedule the cleaning and sanitizing of each meeting space.

Our Elder Team will meet again on June 29th to consider our "next steps."

While we will have an in-person service on Sundays, as always we will offer our services online as well. To watch online on Facebook Live, please click HERE.

  • You DO NOT need a Facebook account. Simply click on any video (or on "Not Now") when asked to "Log In" or "Create a New Account."

  • The only restriction without an account is you will not be able to comment.

Things to remember for those gathering on campus:

  • Social distancing protocols will be in place.

  • Our only entrance will be through the Atrium doors.

  • Small groups will not meet on campus until further notice.

  • There will be no childcare, youth meetings, or children's meetings at this time. All ages are welcome in the auditorium for our worship celebration.

  • Volunteers, greeters, and staff members will be required to wear masks (unless speaking from the stage).

  • For those attending worship, masks are welcomed but not required.

A COMPLETE LIST of our protocols is available on our website. To read these, simply review the post below.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

UPDATE: 5/22/2020
One On-campus Worship Service May 31st at 9:30 AM

Our Newchurch Elder Team has made the decision to start in-person worship services starting Sunday, May 31st. This will be Phase 1 of our three-part move back to “normal” weekly meetings on campus. While we will have an in-person service on Sundays, as always we will offer our services online as well.

Because your safety and health are of great importance to us, we have implemented several safety protocols that we will need everyone to be aware of and follow if you are joining us in-person.  Here is a list of those protocols:

Phase 1 - One On-campus Worship Service at 9:30 AM

  • Everyone will enter through the atrium entrance. All other entrances will be closed.

  • Doors will be propped open for no-touch entry unless inclement weather requires a greeter to hold the door.

  • Volunteers & Staff will have their temperatures checked every morning.

  • Volunteers & Staff will wear masks unless they are on stage presenting.

  • Gloves will not be required for Volunteers or Staff.

  • For those attending the service, masks are welcomed but will not be required.

  • Chairs will be separated to maintain social distancing.

  • Family-sized groupings of chairs will be available.

  • We will be able to accommodate 250 people (first come first serve).

  • We will not offer handouts, mints, pens, or communion

  • No food or drinks will be offered in any form (including the coke machine).

  • Small groups will not meet on campus until further notice.

  • There will be no childcare, youth meetings, or children's meetings at this time. All are welcome in the auditorium for our worship celebration.

  • Staggered dismissal will be done by the staff to help maintain social distancing.

  • The atrium, auditorium, and restrooms will be the only accessible areas in the building.

  • Additional sanitization will occur before and after the service.

  • Bathrooms will have attendants and be sanitized anytime they are used.

This "phase one" of campus life will be re-evaluated and updated as we move into, and through, the month of June.

REMEMBER: The church is not a building. Just because we have the opportunity for in-person meetings doesn’t mean you must feel the need to attend. If you are at high risk, or in contact with someone who has Covid-19, please join us online until it is safe for you to be in close proximity to others. If you are not sure about this, please err on the side of caution.

May we also add, THANK YOU! Through all of this, you have been so faithful to join us week after week online. You have also been faithful with your giving to the Lord. As your Staff & Elders, we are so grateful for you.

An Update from your Pastors and Elder Team at Newchurch

- COVID-19 Update -

Last Sunday, our Elder Team discussed the most recent statements by Governor Stitt and Mayor Holt and the guidelines for churches gathering on campuses. While we will not make decisions out of fear, we will make decisions, as shepherds, that care for our entire church flock. With that in mind, we will continue to keep the building closed and have online services only for the foreseeable future. The Elder Team will be meeting again in mid-May to reassess the best way to proceed. Please know, as your church pastors, we want to gather together as much as anyone and we will do that as soon as it is responsibly possible.

We can’t wait to get back together. We miss seeing you so much!

We Love You...Pass it On!

UPDATE: 3/20/2020
Join us online this Sunday!

Dear Church Family,

As you know, our services Sunday will be online only. It is not something we want to do but is what we think is best for the health and well-being of our entire church. We have been working to make sure that this is a great experience for you and your family.

Our hope is that you will not just watch a service, but that you will participate and have a worship experience. We’re making a few minor modifications to what we will be doing to help with this. Additionally, we’re asking you to consider a few adjustments that we think will help your experience:

Choose a celebration time and make it a priority. This week, we will be live at 9:30 & 10:45 a.m. We believe something great happens when God’s people gather together. However, we also know that life happens, so you will be able to celebrate anytime after those times by watching the recordings.

Help Everyone Stay Focused. We may have doughnuts and coffee on Sundays, but we want to encourage you to eliminate distractions as best you can.

Understand the importance of continuing to gather together. If there are others in your family, have them join you. Set up chairs around your computer or iPad. Remember, the church is not a place…you are the church.

Remember to continue being faithful to God with tithes & offerings. While we are all thinking about our personal finances right now, we are probably not thinking about our church’s finances. Give online if possible. Our weekly expenses, missions support, and benevolence are ongoing needs.

Create a time before or after the worship experience to talk to each other and God about how things are going. This is an ideal time to discuss how everyone is and take any and all concerns to the Father.

Have fun! We can look at this as a challenge or an opportunity to do things a little differently. Humor has always been a value at newchurch. Our time together will be uplifting and fun while we take the time to focus on God’s word.

Isaiah 43:19 says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” While we would much rather see you face to face, we believe our God is big enough to do some amazing things Sunday. He is making a way for us in the desert of a pandemic. He is going to be with us all and in us all. So get ready to experience Him in a new and unique way.

We Love You, Pass It On!

UPDATE: 3/16/2020
Latest Update from our Pastors at Newchurch

Dear Newchurch Family,

In an attempt to help the Church in a difficult time, C.S. Lewis once said, “Do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation.” The simple truth is that the Church has gone up against many different challenges. We now get to join in this history of overcoming the obstacles that lay before us. We will hold tight to the words of Hebrews 10 which encourage us to "not give up meeting together," even if those meetings are online rather than in person.

As concerns for public health and safety continue to grow during this season of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have made some decisions concerning how we will proceed for the immediate future.

Our Sunday morning celebration times will be online only. In agreement with the suggestion of the CDC and the local government, we will only have essential staff & volunteers in the building during this time. You can join our Sunday celebrations in two ways: Click HERE for our Facebook page or HERE for our website.

In addition, we are postponing all of our regularly scheduled, on-campus, gatherings until further notice. This includes all small groups and age-graded gatherings (both Sunday and Wednesday) and any other meetings/events scheduled for our buildings.

Keep an eye on your inbox as we will be sending out suggestions on how to help make your in-home Sunday morning celebration times effective and encouraging over the unforeseen future.

As mentioned in our last notice, we are doing this not out of fear but out of an abundance of care and love for one another and our community at large.

“Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.”   Hebrews 10:23–25 (Message)

And remember,

We Love You…Pass It On!

P.S.  Speaking of “passing it on,” if you know of anyone who doesn’t receive our Flocknotes, please feel free to forward this email their direction.

P.P.S.  Did you receive this update from a friend and you would now like to receive Flocknotes from Newchurch? Please send your name and email address to joe@newchurch.tv. We'll add you to this “news update” email service.

UPDATE: 3/14/2020
An update from Pastor Monty

Dear Newchurch Family,

As concerns regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) continue, I simply want to take a moment to let you know that, as of now, all Newchurch Celebrations and meetings will continue at their regularly scheduled times. If, however, you prefer to exercise precautions by limiting your contact with others, please know our Sunday Celebrations are available live on Facebook or by simply clicking HERE.

In addition, we encourage you to do a few basic things that will help us all stay safer:

  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
  • Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces around your home or work.
  • Please choose to stay home if you're sick (join us online by clicking HERE!)

Considering the health of all, we do ask that certain groups of people who fall within the following categories worship with us from home this Sunday:

  • Those with medical conditions that would make you more susceptible.
  • Those who have recently traveled from a place of infection.
  • Those who are currently sick or running a fever.

We will continue to monitor this situation and make adjustments to our activities and schedule as necessary. Please know that I am sending these recommendations not out of fear but out of our abundance of love for one another and our community at large.

Above all, please remember this…

Jesus loves you. We love you. Pass THIS on!

Pastor Monty
